Declaration State of Emergency - Burn Ban:

The Town of Bolton has officially declared a State of Emergency to reinforce the State of Connecticut's Burn Ban. Due to the prolonged period of extremely dry weather coupled with the very dry ground and no immediate rain forecasted there is NO BURNING PERMITTED.  This declaration will stay in effect until the state removes its declaration and the state of emergency is lifted.

Schools

Records show the Bolton School System dates back to 1731 at which time it was “voted that Daniel Griswold, Benjamin Talcott and Matthew DeWolf be a committee in behalf of the town to procure a schoolmaster or dame for the schooling of children in this town and also provide places in said Town for keeping of said school.”  Only one year later it was “voted to have a school kept in this town at three places and a rate of thirty pounds be raised and made upon the last list and to be expended in schooling in said town.”
