UPDATE FROM THE TAX OFFICE: 

Notice is hereby given to the taxpayers of the Town of Bolton that the taxes for the 2024 Grand List will be due and payable on October 1st, 2025. The Tax Collector’s office is located in the Bolton Town Hall, 222 Bolton Center Rd, Bolton, CT, lower level. Office hours for payments are as follows:

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday – 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Tuesday – 8:30 AM – 6:30 PM
Friday – 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM

Payments must be received or postmarked by November 3rd, 2025, to avoid interest. Interest at the rate of 1.5% per month will be charged for all taxes remaining unpaid. Interest starts accruing from October 1st, 2025, the date the taxes became due and payable. Minimum interest charge is $2.00 per bill.

Failure to receive a tax bill does not invalidate the tax or interest per CT State Statute. Please visit our website for additional information.
PAPER SHREDDING EVENT:

The Town of Bolton will hold its annual Shredding Event on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 9 a.m. to noon at the recycling/transfer station. Residents from the Town of Bolton can bring documents for shredding to the recycling center. All rings and binders must be removed. Staples do not need to be removed. There is no limit to the quantity of documents to be shredded.

<p>The Bolton Conservation Commission will host a 3-mile, peak foliage hike on Sunday, October 22, 2023, to the Box Mountain Forest, beginning at 1:00 PM.&nbsp;Participants should plan to meet at the Freja Park kiosk behind the Bolton Commuter Lot across from and down the road from Georgina&rsquo;s Italian Restaurant, 275 Boston Turnpike, Bolton CT 06043.</p>

<p>The 117-acre Box Mountain Forest was inducted into the Old Growth Forest Network (OGFN) in April thanks to&nbsp;landowners, Mark, and Jamie Summers.&nbsp;This newly designated parcel will allow us to witness changes in a natural forest proforestation - in perpetuity. Proforestation is a management strategy that allows some forests to evolve as self-sustaining and climate regulating ecosystems. Keeping some forests intact as nature preserves is invaluable. This has become a crucial step as a climate change countermeasure. The OGFN Box Mt Forest is a rare gift to the future.</p>

<p>Commission members will be on hand to help identify the diversity of trees along the way to an amazing stand of Chestnut Oak. From the vista on Box Mountain near Sal&rsquo;s Cave one can enjoy the colorful view into the rare Bolton Notch/Valley Falls watershed and Bolton Notch State Park.</p>
